Vermont Department of Labor Celebrates
VHV Company’s 2025 Apprentice Graduation
Montpelier, VT - The Vermont Department of Labor (VDOL) proudly joined VHV Company today to celebrate the graduation of seven apprentices from its four-year registered apprenticeship program in the sheet metal and HVAC trades. Held at VHV’s headquarters in Winooski, the ceremony highlighted the growing importance of employer-led training in Vermont’s construction industry and the promise of meaningful career pathways in the skilled trades.
Interim Commissioner Kendal Smith delivered remarks on behalf of the Department, applauding VHV’s continued investment in workforce development.
“These skilled graduates are stepping into essential, high demand careers that power Vermont’s economy,” said Interim Commissioner Kendal Smith. “We are proud to support programs like this, which not only train the next generation of tradespeople but also create meaningful, long-term opportunities right here in Vermont.”
Launched in 2017 in partnership with Associated Builders and Contractors of New Hampshire/Vermont (ABC NH/VT), the program follows the nationally recognized NCCER curriculum. It combines 8,000+ hours of on-the-job learning with classroom instruction.
Today, the VHV Apprenticeship program includes 69 active apprentices, with 29 new participants added in the last year alone. This demonstrates the strong demand for high-quality, hands-on training across Vermont.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to work for a company that truly values its people and leads the way in apprenticeship training. As an NCCER certified instructor, I take great pride in mentoring the next generation of tradespeople,” said Brian Charron, PE, Director of Marketing and Business Development VHV. “Watching these young professionals grow in skill and confidence and seeing the pride on their faces when they complete the program is what makes this work so meaningful.”
The Department remains committed to supporting apprenticeships and employer-led training efforts across all sectors. To learn more about apprenticeship opportunities in Vermont, visit labor.vermont.gov/apprenticeship.
